International Pagan Coming Out Day in Washignton, DC!
May 2, 2012 on the Pennsylvania Ave side of the White House
(across from Lafayette Park, not on the side by the elipse)
Join us on May 2nd by the White House at 7:45pm (on the sidewalk fo the Pennsylvania Ave side) for a public ritual celebrating the coming out of the broom closet. Pagans can decide on their own whether they want to come out, and this is a community ritual to support them and celebrate it. This ritual is also a voice to encourage a greater tolerance and understanding of Paganism, as well as understanding of all faiths. We will gather at a local restaurant to share in stories of coming out, to celebrate coming out, and to connect people to resources and support for coming out.
Some of us come out to a person in our lives or a group of people in our lives. Regardless who we are coming out to, we are here to support you.
6:45pm - Gather near the White House on the sidewalk of Pennsylvania Avenue
7:00pm - Public Ritual for Pagan Coming Out Day
8:00pm - Walk to local restaurant
Please feel free to join us for the ritual and/or at the restaurant.
If you are planning to come out as a Pagan to someone, you are worried that things might not go well, and you would like someone to check up on you by phone, please let us know when you plan the conversation and where you will be, so that we can make sure you are okay. You can let us know that you will meet us at the ritual or the restaurant, and we will follow up with a phone call, and then follow up with police if we don't hear that you're okay.
If you plan on coming out to a person or a group of people, and you would like to know that there is somewhere to go for the night if things don't go well, make a point to meet us at the restaurant. Or, contact us to connect you with someone to talk to or a place to go to for the night.
