HOW YOU CAN HELP: Sponsoring The OHF

THE OHF BANNER POLICIES

The OHF carries banners for its Major Sponsors as a way of publicly acknowledging the tremendous help of our supporting individuals and organizations. At the same time, that is the sole purpose of banners. They are not intended as paid advertisements. To that end, the OHF has implemented the following banner policies. Before creating or submitting a banner to the OHF as a Major Sponsor, please take a moment to read these policies carefully.

Technical Requirements

Banners appearing on the OHF site must be in a .gif format, contain no animated elements, and be 120 x 90 pixels in size.

Content Requirements

Banners may show general contact information such as URLs or addresses. Banners may also contain properly licensed logos, trade-dress, and names. Slogans are also allowed if they have been strongly associated with an organization through extensive use in the past. Last, banners may mention or depict up to three products/services. For example, "...offering books, music, and supplies..."

Banners must be legal and only describe legal activities. They may not promote hate or intolerance. They may not show anything that may be considered obscene, inappropriate for young children, or infringing of intellectual property.

Because banners are not held out as advertisements, they may not use comparative or subjective language. For example, terms like "oldest," "best," "most," "exclusive," "longest," "comprehensive," or "official" would be inappropriate for a banner.

Similarly, banners may not use calls to action. For example, terms like "call," "click-here," "visit us," "see us," or "contact us" would be inappropriate. For related reasons, banners may not show a product or service being used or operated, nor direct contact information such as an email address or phone number.
